How Do We Work?

The Initial Consult & Orientation

During our first session, we’ll learn about your puppy, discuss training goals, and get you started with essential information for living with a puppy. By the end of our meeting, you’ll have a clear understanding of how your puppy will benefit from Puppy Day School and have key knowledge to help you succeed in their training.

Getting to Work

We’ll get them started building confidence and trust on their very first day. You get videos and reports cards for your pup’s day at school, so you’ll know exactly how they are progressing each day.  You’ll also receive clear instructions on what you need to do when your puppy is home between school days.

Maintaining Your Puppy's Behaviour

We’ll make sure you’re able to maintain your puppy’s good behaviour as they grow up. You receive 1 training session per week with your dog, and we work with you to ensure you have the necessary knowledge and information to maintain behaviour, with personalized classes and access to our library of resources and tutorials.

Foundation Training

Your pup will receive multiple training sessions with a certified trainer each day. Skills your puppy will learn will go beyond the usual puppy class. We include a variety of training appropriate to the age of your puppy, which may include some of the following:

Foundation behaviours (focus, sits, down, stays, leash walking, go to your mat, settle etc);

Polite manners and greetings around people, mealtime/food, and other dogs;

Safety behaviours: crate training, recall, settling in cars;

Handling and exposure for grooming, teeth brushing and vet visits;

Training with distractions in and out of the home.

Planned Socialization

Your puppy is learning all about the world around them including what’s safe and what’s dangerous. During this critical development window, we ensure that your dog  gets to explore and have opportunities for positive and safe socialization through exploration, field trips, in-home activities, and as appropriate, interaction with other dogs.

Supervised Play

Puppies love to play, and it’s tempting to take them to the dog park. But very few people at a dog park are trained to recognize signs of in appropriate play, poor play skills or stress in groups of dogs. Puppies that feel overwhelmed or puppies that are constantly dominating the play may have challenges when they become adults.

During Puppy Day School and Board and Train, your puppy will have  learn how to play safely and politely with other pups. We’ll also equip you with the knowledge to recognize when your pup is having a good time, and when they might need a break, for their benefit or the benefit of their doggie friends.

Rest & Sleep

A critical part of your puppy’s development and temperament is getting enough sleep. During their day with us, puppies get all the rest and sleep they need, so that they don’t experience overtired  excitement, excessive nipping  or other problem behaviours.

If your dog is staying with us for the VIP Board and Train program, they sleep the night away cozy in an in-home environment with their trainer just a few steps away for potty breaks and comfort if needed.

Instead of thinking…

s

“The biting! My puppy is a shark! Our hands, our clothing, the kids! When will it end?”

s

“My puppy is scared and nervous, I don’t know how to help them be more confident.”

s

“My puppy pulls so hard on their leash when we go out that they’re choking, but they won’t stop. Going for a walk is super frustrating!”

s

“Why won’t my puppy do their business outside? We go outside and nothing happens, we go back inside and they pee!”

s

“My puppy gets so excited to see other people and other dogs, barking loudly and jumping, it’s embarrassing.”

“We started working with Tasha when our British Bulldog, Miss Mable, was about 5 months old. Within a session we were working on basic commands and addressing pressing issues (potty training!). As COVID lifted and we started to go out more, alone time and separation anxiety also became a concern. With Tasha’s support and her compassionate, methodical systems, it was a straightforward process to ensure she was calm when we left. Mable is now a happy, confident teenager who loves to walk, cuddle and play with respect. We will continue to work with Tasha throughout Mable’s life to ensure ongoing progress and fun. Thank you Fearless Tails!”

We were looking for a trainer that we could work with over multiple sessions to help with our Bernedoodle pup Seba’s adolescent phase. We wanted to focus on leash walking (our pup was pulling the leash A LOT), how to greet visitors (especially since we haven’t had many because of COVID) and recall. The meet & greet with Tasha was super helpful – I immediately felt comfortable that we would be working with her and felt confident that we would make progress on our areas of focus. Tasha provided useful tips and tricks for us to use as a family and was willing to answer questions throughout and adjust the training plan as needed. In addition, working with Tasha over the course of a few months enabled us to see Seba’s progress and prioritize what we wanted to work on for our final sessions. Would highly recommend working with Tasha and Fearless Tails for your training needs!

Working with Tasha was such a wonderful experience. She is very positive, organized, caring, truly knowledgeable and understands dogs’ behaviours and everything. She taught and provided my family lots of information and techniques which really helped us understand our pup.( From puppy to adolescent phase) We are looking forward to work with her more in the future.
Thank you, Tasha.

Joseph H.

From helping us work on loose leash walking, training to accept ear drops, guidance with picky eating and absolutely everything in between, Tasha’s knowledge and endless patience has been the key to our successful training with Piper so far. To say we are grateful is an understatement.

Even though we’ve adopted many adult dogs, we needed help with our new rescue puppy. Tasha gave us the knowledge and guidance we needed to improve Rufus’ recall, leash manners on busy roads and to reduce his separation anxiety as he got used to his new home.
